Brought in for wound care since the bird is negative. Consulted with Dr G about the wound. The staff were thinking that we could potentially create a hole through the patagium and use the healthy skin from the back side to narrow the hole on the ventral side.

Placed under 3% ISO via mask, heavy breathing throughout treatment.
The wound on the ventral side of the patagium just above the
elbow has grown in size. It is around the size of a golf ball.
I removed a lot of the matted feathers around the wound. Some
of the edges look healthy with a little bleeding. There is overall
concern about some of the other areas that may die off between
now and Friday. Scrubbed, flushed packed with a single betadine
gauze. Placed Silver Gel around the outside edge and placed another
sterile guage over top to try to keep the lateral flap of skin
down on the betadine gauze. Place a telfa and tega over top.
Added a velcro wrap to keep it all in place. Very slow recovery.

Was BARP, then jumped to ground. Kept jumping at wall trying to escape. Got back up to perch. NOLO. Bandage intact.

L patagium - bandage has come off. Margins are firm with dead
tissue, large segment of white material, first suspected to be
bandage material but believe it is dead tissue after some gentle
picking. Central tendon exposed looks slightly yellowed compared
to Saturday and there is more tendon exposed medially. Matted
feathers surrounding and stuck to dead tissue on margins. Flushed
very well, cleaned with chlorhex and flushed again before treating.
Packed with SSD, covered with larger piece of duoderm, telfa,
large tega pad to hopefully keep bandage in place.

CBC unconcerning; no evidence in this sample of systemic infection or inflammatory response. Parasitic infection likely more recent before coming to us as there is no reflection of chronic intestinal parasite damage in CBC.

appearing while manipulating. Large tendon exposed. Inner portion
appears pink. Flushed well with sterile saline. Cut away some
feathers and very edge of skin on lateral side. Flushed again
and packed with SSD, covered with duoderm, telfa, & tega.

checked on bird and his breathing was a little heavy and open mouth. Opted to try and remove some of the food from his crop. Removed several large pieces of food from the crop. There is still some food left. He was quiet for most of it but did have times of high stress where he would thrash around some. He did stand for a moment but it wasn't for long
